Why Green Energy?

You can choose to purchase renewable energy and make a difference for generations to come.  Thousands of New York State residents have chosen green power and are creating a cleaner, healthier environment and helping to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal.  New York homes and small businesses can choose from two 100% renewable energy options:

• WIND Power: Consists of 100% regionally wind-generated electricity, and costs an additional 2.5 cents per kWh; or
• GREEN Power:  Consists of 35% wind-generated electricity and 65% small hydro power, and costs an additional 1 cent per kWh.

When you enroll, green power will be sent to the regional power grid on your behalf, and you will be sent an annual certificate that states exactly how much green power was generated on your behalf.
