CON EDISON SOLUTIONS DONATES PICK-UP TRUCK FOR CROSS-COUNTRY 'RENEWABLE Road Trip'
HIGH SCHOOLERS DRIVE FROM ATLANTA TO PACIFIC ON BIODIESEL FUEL WITHOUT REFUELING
White Plains, NY - August 15, 2008 - ConEdison Solutions, one of America’s leading energy service providers, has donated a six-passenger diesel pick-up truck to a Glocester, Rhode Island high school to support their efforts to promote biodiesel fuel as a renewable energy source.
Ponaganset High School teacher Ross McCurdy and three students completed a 3,000-mile, coast-to-coast road trip from Ponaganset High in Rhode Island to Los Angeles, California in the vehicle donated by ConEdison Solutions.
To demonstrate the feasibility of biofuels, the group completed the road trip on 100% biodiesel without refueling along the way. The quartet left Rhode Island on August 9 and arrived in Los Angeles on August 14. The school received grant funding adequate to cover costs for the cross-country trip -- including fuel, food, and lodging -- from the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources.
The venture was part of a group of projects undertaken at Ponaganset High School to demonstrate the numerous educational and environmental benefits of renewable power through real-world projects. The relationship between Ponaganset High and ConEdison Solutions grew out of an energy-efficiency project ConEdison Solutions is performing for the Foster-Glocester School District.

The diesel pickup donated by ConEdison Solutions is a classic American truck, like the majority of privately owned diesel vehicles in the United States. This has been a great opportunity to promote biodiesel and hopefully more people will start using this U.S.-made fuel in their own diesel vehicles.”
